Job Title: Sales Advisor (All Locations)

Reporting To: Personal Lines Branch Manager

What you’ll be doing

You will undergo a custom training programme to enable you to deliver our complete personal lines service to our customers by giving knowledgeable, tailored advice on our range of products, selling and cross selling these within company set sales targets and managed through various performance metrics.  You will assist customers with their queries to include mid-term adjustments and look after their renewals. 

Your responsibilities

  • Via inbound and outbound call, selling and cross selling a range of personal lines insurance products within company set sales targets (individual and overall branch/company target)
  • To provide the highest standards of customer care, service, and client retention.
  • To give advice to customers, explain why a particular product or provider would best meet the demands and needs of the customer, and give recommendations tailored to the customer’s requirements.
  • To always ensure best practice in line current legal and regulatory requirements
  • Adhering to regulations and requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority (our regulator).
  • Providing expert and prompt advice to new and existing customers regarding their insurance needs, e.g., handling adjustments, renewals and any other queries which may arise.
  • Providing quotations and arranging new business via computerised rating guides.
  • Maximising all sales opportunities to include cross selling and dealing with prospects efficiently and effectively.
  • Identifying and following up on potential customers quickly and professionally.
  • Effectively and efficiently handle policy adjustments, renewals and any other queries which may arise.
  • Handling customer complaints in accordance with company procedures, calmly and with empathy.
  • Achieving personal monthly targets whilst maintaining acceptable standards of work and quality.
  • Dealing with all business clients in a professional manner.
  • Maintain effective communication with all contacts, including insurance companies.
  • Being a corporate ambassador by always presenting a professional image.

General Duties

  • Complying with all company policies and procedures, including health and safety procedures.
  • Carrying out any other functions deemed necessary by the Branch Manager for the effective operation of the branch.

Remuneration and Conditions of Employment

  • Salary dependant on experience and technical knowledge.
  • Sales incentives
  • Hours of work – 36 ½ hours per week with a range of shifts from 8am-8pm
  • Starting with 20 days annual leave, 11 statutory days with additional annual leave accruing based on length of service.
  • Company Pension Scheme, which staff are automatically enrolled into after 3-months at 5%, with the company matching up to 5% of their contribution

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent). This may be waived in lieu of extensive related experience. 
  • Desirable:
    • 2 'A' Level passes, or equivalent. 
    • Has/Is working towards professional qualifications.

Experience

  • Essential:
    • Demonstratable experience in achieving sales, with a proven ability to identify and close sales opportunities. 
    • Computer literate.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in selling motor and/or home insurance
    • Experience working within a target driven environment
    • Working knowledge of Open GI.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels using a variety of media.
  • An effective, willing and enthusiastic team player. 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to act on own initiative to achieve set targets.
